The purpose of this study was to explore the potential factors affecting drinking level and smartphone overdependence level in old age among 286 older adults aged 65 or over. The data were collected through an online survey in 2022 and descriptive statistics, correlations, and hierarchical multiple regression were used for data analyses. Major study findings are as follow. First, most study participants showed normal drinking level and normal smartphone user level. Second, alcohol level was statistically significantly affected by sex, economic activity, religion, social support from friends, and active and passive stress coping skills. Third, smartphone overdependence level was affected by economic activity, active and passive stress coping skills, and depressive symptoms. Based on the results, this study emphasized the importance of practice measures to deal with both drinking and smartphone overdependence issues in old age.
